Hosting
I will be happy to host a number of sites for free, provided that all my requirements are met. Anything other than fansites is okay with me. However, if you are applying for a site that is more than a blog, I expect a certain level of quality in terms of design and web knowledge. You can either have a subdomain, such as yourname.bakaelite.net or if you have your own domain*, you can use that as well.
*I will only point your domain. The cost of paying for the domain is up to you. I will only provide hosting space.
If you are interested in being a hostee, you will get:

- 100mb to start [I'll allocate more as your site grows]
- Enough Bandwidth [shared with the total allocation of my domain]
- PHP, SSI, Ruby
- MySQL: a database must be requested in the app. I can grant you multiple if you will be using intensive programs.
- an email forward [must be requested] in the format of whatevername@bakaelite.com
- A friendly host. ^^
If you need to contact me for anything, don’t hesitate to ask.
You must follow these guidelines as a hostee:
- Be courteous to me and other hostees. Just have good web etiquette overall.
- Content must be your own or credited to the respective owners. This includes written and graphical content.
- You need to be able to maintain the site yourself. That means designing and coding is your responsibility, so you should know, at the least, CSS and HTML. I can teach you how to use FTP and some basics in webcoding/management. Anything else that you want to learn you can find in great online communities.
- No pornographic content! I will allow mature content in literary work and art images such as short stories, poems, sketches, photos, etc., as long as its done in good taste. There is a fine line between porn and art, and I will check to make sure you are within acceptable realms. I’m pretty loose about stuff like this, as long as you’re not putting up hard-core stuff.
- No sites that are purposely hateful, racially bigoted, or any of the like. Parodies and satire are allowed.
- The site must be mostly in English. You can have some other content in another language, but it must mainly be in English.
On the application inquiry, be sure to include:
- Your desired subdomain name.
- State whether or not you would like MySql database(s) and/or email
- Your site description, which should be detailed. A link to a current site or a screen cap can be given as a supplement along with the written desc. [though for a screencap, you will have to host it at some free upload site and include the image link on the app]
- You should list the type of programs you plan to use, like a blog, a forum, etc. That way I can allocate a database for you, or perhaps install it myself if I have time.
- Any other details you may wish to add, whether it’s about your site’s aim, needs, questions, a little bio about yourself, IM contacts, whatever. Any tidbit is optional, as long as the other requirements are met.
If I like what you wrote, there’s a good chance of acceptance. If I don’t accept you, I will try to refer you to another host, if I can.
**Note that these rules and guidelines are tentative to change at my discretion.
